Spider Island is a space rock band from Orange County, California. The group formed in 2011 when founding members Nathan Esch (lead vocals and guitar) and Sam Mulder (bass) wanted to start a new band. Second guitarist Donkus Jones joined the band in 2012, and the four-piece went into the studio to record the band's first serious release, a five song EP titled Dark Nova. Mario Tafoya was recruited on drums sometime after the EP came out and the band's sound became harder yet still dynamic.
