Sons Of Erin is a Canadian traditional Irish band founded 1968 in St. John's, Newfoundland, led by Ralph O'Brien. The original lineup was Ralph O'Brien, Fergus O'Byrne, Dermot O'Reilly, and Garrett Kavanagh, later joined by Denis Ryan. After an initial breakup, O'Brien reformed the band with new members, and has led it ever since. Former members have gone on to found bands including Ryan's Fancy, Sullivan's Gypsies, and The Irish Descendants, among others. Current lineup is Ralph O'Brien, Jason Simms, John Barella, Joseph Tompkins, and Steve Best.
