The Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra (Bulgarian: Софийска филхармония) was founded in 1928 under the supervision of Bulgarian musician Alexander Popov. He was the chief conductor of the orchestra until 1956. The present activity is carried out by the symphony orchestra, the chamber orchestra, the academic choir and several chamber assemblies.
