The band was formed in 2003 by singer/guitarist Joel Sprigg when he produced a 7-track EP entitled "What's With All The Soup… Mary?" under the alias 'Schickel'. After high-school friends Jason Golding and Charles Young joined the band on bass and guitar respectively. In December 2004 Craig Bunting took up took up the position of drummer.
