Ruhan is a classically trained Chinese soprano. In February 2007, Ruhan appeared in Damon Albarn’s Chinese rock-opera Monkey: Journey To The West as the Queen Mother Of Heaven and Guan Yin. The French-Chinese co-production featured the French musical theater group, “Le Theatre du Chatelet”. The music was composed by Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz) and Jamie Hewlett designed the set and costumes. The opera was staged in Paris by director Chen Shi-Zheng.
