Back in February of 2005, Massive Attack and Portishead shared the stage for the first time ever whilst performing live as a part of the fund raising concert for the Tsunami Crisis in Asia at the Bristol Academy. It was Portishead's first live show in 7 years at the time…
all proceeds from this event went straight to Oxfam who were organizing water and sanitation relief in the tsunami crisis area.
Ben LittleJhon , Who Coordinated Oxfams's Involvement in the events said : " The event was just phenomenal , the guys form Massive Attack and Portishead did an fantastic jop of pulling the night together . through ticket sales and the web-cast , the concert raised over €100,000 For Oxfam's life saving work in Asia.
By supporting the make poverty history campaign , the concert also helped people put pressure on politicians to tackle the underlying causes of poverty. Over half the people at the concert bought white bands - the symbol of support for the campaign - and everyone went away with an understanding of what world leaders need to deliver for poor countries ,
namely : "trade justice , debt cancellation and more and better aid."
