In 2006, E. Robert Frank was having difficulty finishing and releasing an album, mainly due to the vast array of software toys that were stealing his focus. In an effort to keep distractions to a minimum, he resolved to write an record an album using only one keyboard: The Casio VL-TONE (VL1), a keyboard made most famous by its appearance in the Trio song "Da Da Da". The lyrical matter was another difficulty entirely, so he decided to write all of the songs about famous film directors from the 70s and 80s.
