The earliest incarnation of what would become Fist to the Sky, the earliest lineup consisted of Phil Sylvester on bass and vocals, Stephanie Mojdeh on guitar and vocals, and Gabe Villegas on drums. They were more of a funk/hard alternative band. Mojdeh would quit. Phil would start playing guitar, and brother Mike took over bass duties. In mid-2003, they changed their name to In Red. Nimiety's sound does not have much in common with the modern band Fist to the Sky. In Red's sound initially was similar, but soon came a harder edge that has persisted into Fist's sound.
