Michael James Way was born on September 10,1980 in Newark, New Jersey. He is currently bassist in punk-post-hardcore rock band My Chemical Romance. He grew up in Belleville, New Jersey alongside his older brother Gerard Way. He coined the name for the band My Chemical Romance from the Irvine Welsh book, "Ecstasy: Three Tales of a Chemical Romance". He discovered this book while he was working at a Barnes and Noble book store in the music section. He also got his brother Gerard a job there.
