"Suicide & Redemption" is the first instrumental track since 1988's To Live Is To Die (…And Justice For All). It is also the longest original Instrumental song by Metallica to date. But, the uncut version of Load's The Outlaw Torn (10:48), which was only released as a b-side, and the Mercyful Fate medley on Garage Inc.(11:11) are longer, though they are not instrumental. The track includes soloing in the 3rd period of track. There are two more version of the track with extended James' solo only and Kirk' solo only, which appeared in Guitar Hero game.
