Max Lorenz (born Max Sülzenfuß, 10 May 1901 in Düsseldorf, died 11 Jan 1975 in Salzburg). German heroic tenor famous for singing Wagner. Lorenz studied with Ernst Grenzebach in Berlin. He made his debut at the Semperoper in Dresden in 1927. From 1929 to 1944 – Berlin State Opera, also New York Metropolitan Opera (1931–34), the Bayreuth Festspielhaus (1933–39, 52, 54), Royal Opera House (1934, 37), Vienna State Opera (1929–33, 36–44, 54).
