Marty Kizer was born in Chicago and raised in the rough and tumble “two-five” neighborhood on the west side of Gary, Indiana. He was a three time Indiana state boxing champion, a two time Chicago Golden Gloves finalist, and a two time all-navy champion. After being stopped in the first round on national tv by a future Olympic gold medalist, he decided that his future in boxing was limited.
