The idea for the "Magic Lady" album was conceived in the early spring of 1978. Spriguns had just spend two years under the Decca record banner and it was Mandy Morton who decided to sever her connections with Decca to form her own recording label and management structure using the name of Spriguns as a backing band. It was perhaps the best move she ever made, as "Magic Lady" is now one of the finest pieces of work to come out of the history of Spriguns music.
