Lydia Mordkovitch (born 30 April 1944 in Saratov) is a Russian-born British violinist. A protégée of David Oistrakh, she is considered to be one of the top British violinists of the latter half of the 20th century. Since 1995 she has been a professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Biography Mordkovitch was born in Saratov, southeastern Russia, on 30 April 1944. She moved to Odessa in the Ukraine in 1960 where she studied for two years at the Stolyarsky School of Music until 1962.
