Biography
Low Rise Estate began in an eastern suburban living room of Melbourne, Australia as an experiment in combining abrasive noise electronics with guitar based pop tunes, an idea which reflects the musical history of its members.
Initially a solo project for guitarist May, Low Rise Estate was intended as an outlet for her bedroom recordings. For years May has been active in the local music scene playing in indie guitar bands, she used the Low Rise Estate moniker to release music which reflected her talents as a multi-instrumentalist.
David and Adrian have performed together for many years creating noise under the names dpwolf and doktorb robotnik. The pair experimented with the creation of loops in realtime, resampling/filtering and the manipulation of processed feedback systems. The result of their years of experimentation; a grinding, hypnotic clash of digital glitches, screeching walls of feedback and heavily processed rhythms which shift unpredictably. dpwolf and doktorb robotnik have been active in the Melbourne experimetal scene for almost a decade, they've performed together in the Fringe Festival, Next Wave Festival, Kiss My After Effects, Electrofringe and Electundra as well as running the Segmentation Fault night.
Low Rise Estate as it exists now stands somewhere in the middle of these different worlds. Drawing its inspiration from everywhere: Stevie Wonder to Merzbow and back again. An apocalyptic, psychedelic, dance party, doom-metal, jazz excursion where no one, not even the performers know what's going to come out until it's already happening.
