“You’ll Understand When You’re Older” is the fifth song on Lovejoy’s second EP, Pebble Brain. The song’s main theme is the pressure that restaurant waiters in the UK felt during the COVID-19 pandemic. The lyrics also seem to obliquely refer to one of the narrator’s female co-workers suffering from the effects of an abusive relationship. Wilbur said in a stream on Oct. 19, 2021, that this is “a song about a minister of parliament.” He also added an outro that was cut from the released album.
