Biography
Little Ghost began as the brain child of vocalist Issac Romero. Growing up between Santa Cruz and Washington, a love for the romantic depth and lush sounds of the 80's and the driving force and emotion of post punk were developed at a young age. The Cure, The Smiths, and Joy Division played a crucial role in the influence of Little Ghost. With the help of his close friend and later LG guitarist Ryan Chew, who studied music recording and engineering, Issac recorded the first five LG songs in the Fall of 2011, at Ryan's home in Boulder Creek, CA.
These heartfelt and dancey songs became the Little Ghost ep, and served as a basis for Issac to find other like-minded musicians in Santa Cruz to bring Little Ghost to life in a live setting. The ep and a Craigslist add searching for band members caught the eyes and ears of local musician Matt Buchanan in November 2011. Growing up playing in punk and hardcore bands on Kauai and Santa Cruz, Matt had played guitar and drums, but showed an interest in playing bass in a more dancey and pop-oriented band. Issac and Matt began to collaborate on guitar and bass, and several weeks later added Stefen Smith, who also fronts the SC electronic based band Old Arc and had played in numerous SC bands in the past, on keyboards and his close friend Greg James, who had played in metal and progressive bands growing up, on drums.
With only three practices together, the four piece played their first show at the Blue Lagoon on February 8th, 2012. They would soon after play local Santa Cruz shows with touring bands such as Born Gold and Cousins. Ryan was recently added as a lead guitarist, which has lead to higher energy during live performances and more musical diversity in songwriting. The band hopes to soon record a proper full length record and to bring their energetic live act to as many new people and places as possible.
