Biography
As a young boy he began composing music and writing poetry. His first book was published in 1973 and his first lyrics to Icelandic music were published in 1979. Since then he has been involved in around 50 albums released in Iceland, mostly in pop and rock, but also in country, folk music and other musical genres. He studied history and theatrical history in the University of Bergen in Norway for a period of four years, but did not finish with a degree.
Today Mr. Hreinsson is working as a poet, playwright, writer, essayist translator and a songwriter. He has published eight books of poetry, ten of his plays have reached the stage, mostly as radio plays. Some other of his works in this field have been published in Iceland. Kristján Hreinsson has about 80 songs on LP’s and CD’s in Iceland, has published five solo albums and has written around 400 lyrics to various types of music. His lyrics are mostly in Icelandic, but have also appeared in English and Norwegian
