Kenji Yamamoto and Kouichi Kyuma (山本健誌 and 久馬浩一) are best known for their work on the Metroid Prime Soundtrack. Yamamoto was the lead composer for the score with Kyuma as his assistant. The Metroid Prime soundtrack was not Yamamoto's first contribution for the Metroid series. In 1994, he created the legendary Super Metroid Soundtrack with Minako Hamano. Both Metroid Prime and its sequel Echoes feature strong musical references to Super Metroid and of course also to Hirokazu Tanaka's work on the original Metroid.
