He was presented with the 2006 Bob Wyllie scholarship, awarded to the most outstanding graduating jazz student, and was also the recipient of the 2006 APRA Professional Development Award for Jazz, which funded a trip to Europe to study with jazz composers Maria Schneider and Ed Partyka.
