JAGATARA is a Japanese funk band which centered around Edo Akemi. The band formed in March, 1979. They released their first album 'Nanban Torai' 「南蛮渡来」 under the name 'Ankokutairiku Jagatara' 「暗黒大陸じゃがたら」 in 1982. After the release of their debut album, Edo Akemi experienced an apparent lapse in creativity to write new material, but the band continued to perform a number of energetic live shows.
