Humrush was formed in Kristiansand, Norway by brothers Torkjel Austad (keyboards/samples) and Halvard Helle (guitars) in the beginning of 1998. In July 1999, Humrush debuted live with three intimate and successful concerts at the Quart Festival with audiences including Massive Attack and Blur. The concerts set the standard for the sound of Humrush being a mix of live instruments and samples.
