In July, 2008, Only the Earth Can Make a Tree was recorded in Rhode Island under the care and guidance of Casey Crescenzo and Andy Wildrick. The short album reflects the differing tastes of the band members who spent almost a year apart from each other prior to recording. The album and most of its songs were conceptualized and formulated over the internet, with each member writing their own parts and corresponding with each other across 3 cities. After releasing a short EP of electronic and acoustic influenced songs called the “Remember the Days EP”, His Hideous Heart began to reshape into a full band with a more complete sound.
