Billie Joe Armstrong wrote this for a girl he met when the band was on tour in Japan. Her unusual name stuck with him and decided to write a song about her. In the song’s story-arc the narrator has deep feelings for Haushinka but never really confessed her emotions to her. He is left with unresolved conflicts as he keeps wondering what could have been of the two. This song was written in Green Day’s early days and was going to be put on the album Kerplunk. The band didn’t like the sound of it at the time but later decided to put it on Nimrod.
