Cantar is the fifth studio album by Brazilian singer Gal Costa, released on May 1974, via Philips Records. The album did not have the same profile as Gal's previous works, on the contrary, it was a soft, João-Gilbertian work. Despite bringing typical songs from her previous phase into her repertoire, Gal was already pointing to her new phase, more focused on music than attitude. An album highlighted as important for the reaffirmation of the bossa-novista Gal Costa introduced to the public by the album Domingo, in 1967, in partnership with Caetano Veloso.
