Biography
Four Fried Fish & Flyin’ Horns was born from the meeting of blues and jazz musicians with a remarkable experience both at national and international level.
In the live set they consider original composition features original songs from the album "Catfish for Breakfast" for Velut Luna label and some blues classical songs reinterpreted that define the exclusive style of the band; funk and modern jazz, as well as the characteristic groove of blues.
BAND
Flamiano Mazzaron (vocal & guitar)
Guitar player, singer and founder of the BARRELHOUSE BLUES BAND, historic blues band from Vicenza (with MARCO PANDOLFIon the harp) inspired by the atmospheres of 1950’s Chicago blues. His first interest, though, was not in blues. In fact, he entered, still very young, the G.R .Band, a band performing folk music by Italian songwriters. His many live exhibitions in Veneto enabled him to acquire good technique and a remarkable music experience.
Later on, he was fascinated by the blues of the origins, the blues played in barrelhouses, before moving on to explore the electric sound of Chicago blues.
He has played in jam sessions and live collaborations with several blues bands of the region.
Fabio Ranghiero (piano & hammond)
Fabio Ranghiero approached music at the age of 13, as autodidact, and went on to play keyboards in groups of Italian music. He fell for blues 6 years later, listening to Muddy Waters, and began to study piano blues, inspired by piano players such as Otis Spann and Memphis Slim.
His five-year experience with the BARRELHOUSE gave him recognition in the Veneto blues circle.
In 1995 he began a series of collaborations with other musicians, both of blues and not, (CLAUDIO BERTOLIN, JOHN HENRY, ENRICO CRIVELLARO, etc,).
Such collaborations enabled him to tour Italy for events, shows and festivals. That same year, fascinated by jazz atmosphere and sounds ( as a student with piano players Paolo Birro and Danilo Memoli), and in particular by the sound of Hammond organ, he founded the Hammond trio, a group presenting jazz standards, and began therefore his collaboration with the most acclaimed musicians of Veneto, both in live events and in recording studio.
His on-going collaborations include also the participation until 2004, as guitarist, in SMART SET, a band of easy-listening lounge music. With Smart Set he has performed in a lot of exclusive pubs and at several festivals throughout Italy (e.g. La Scuderia and Link of Bologna, Terrazza Mare of Jesolo, Cesenatico lounge festival, Galadrim of Teramo, etc.).
Marco Carlesso (drums)
Marco Carlesso start studying drum to 16 years; at the age of 19 he studying in Bologna with Giulio
Capiozzo; graduated at CPM (Centro Professione Musica) in Milan with Christian Meyer. Following
attended the "Laboratori Permanenti di Ricerca Musicale" organised by "Siena Jazz" with pianist Stefano Battaglia. With guitarist and composer Ruggero Robin record 5 CDs including "Viceversa" for the English label Prestige and "Everyday Magic" with many big names of international music. In the summer of 1996 participates as a supporter group , to Italian tour of Zucchero. He began a long series of collaborations: with the instrumental group "Rondò Veneziano" with the trio "Drumagogò", with the gospel group "Summertime" with singers Rosa Emilia and Elisabeth Geel.
He record more than 20 cd. He played with blues artists Cooper Terry , Cheryl Porter, Paolo Ganz , Bluesmakers and many others.
In addition to the concert, both at national and
international level, he teach in the “Progetto Musica” Music Middle School “J. Vittorelli” in Bassano del Grappa (VI) e “L. Pierobon” in Cittadella (PD).
Luca Zulian (bass)
At the age of 14 he is approached to the music and specially to the electric bass, starting like self-taught then with the aid of several teaching.
He participates to many course and stages with different and famous Italian bass players like Faso (Elio and Storie Tese), Paolo Costa (Baglioni, Battiato etc.), Saturnino (Jovanotti) and some world-wide bass players legends as Francis Rocco Prestia of the Tower of Power.
From the beginning Luca has intense “live” activity what takes him to collaborate, eather alive and in recording studio, with several artists of Italian music like: Gianluca Grignani, Bobby Solo, Edoardo Bennato, Morblus and Beppe Grillo.
That puts him in many collaborations with the artists regarding black-Americans blues, funk and R&B (Sandra Hall, Robin Brown, Louisiana Mojo Queen, Stivie Smith, Robben Ford, Preston Shannon, Sonny Rhodes, Eugene "Hideway" Bridges, Brian Templeton etc.) with whom he participates to the most important Italian and Europeans blues festivals.
Ermanno Zuccato (tenor sax & flute)
He then started to study the sax and the flute with Robert Bonisolo at the Thelonious School in Vicenza. He went on to specialize, in the years ’97 and ’99, by taking part in the Siena Jazz and Umbria Jazz (Berklee college of music), where he trained with G.Trovesi, Paolo Fresu, Pietro Tonolo ecc and began very soon to play with several jazz and blues bands. After a “Diploma in Theory and Solfeggio” obtained at the Conservatoire Pollini of Padova, he decide to study in London at the conservatoire “Guildhall School of Music where, after training with Tim Garland, Rufus Reid, Kenny Wheeler, Pete Churchill, Scott Stroman, Simon Purcell, Jean Toussaint ecc., obtained a "Post-graduate Diploma in Music Performance".
Ermanno played in various jazz festival collaborating with “I.D.M.C” from London, Metropolitan Time, Cheryl Porter etc. In 2009 he attended seminars of specialization in Thelonious School of Vicenza, studing ensemble music with Paolo Birro and Alex Sipiagin.
In 2008 he record a cd "Catfish for Breakfast" with the band Four Fried Fish & Flyin' Horns fot Velut Luna label. Numerous musical influences with pop music, hip-pop and ethnic music.
