Droplet formed in Hobart, Tasmania in the wake of the group Ocean who disbanded in 1993. Quickly establishing their indie-pop leanings but with a harder edge live, they were often likened to Lush, The Pixies, The Cranberries and My Bloody Valentine. They recorded and released a cassette entitled "…as if…" to promising reviews in late 1993.
