She is the eldest daughter of Emilia Contessa, a famous singer in the 1970s, and Rio Tambunan. Denada originally known as the Indonesia's top rapper in the early 1990s, having two albums under rap genre - Kujelang Hari (Sambutlah) (1994) and Ini Album Gue (1997).
