This song seems to fit a certain rich-boy theme, and does not seem to reflect Gambino himself, but rather a character or alter-ego, “The Boy.” This may have to do with the proposed supplemental screenplay that Gambino says will accompany the album’s release. He said in an interview “Sweatpants” refers to the fact that rich people wear whatever the hell they want.
