This Etude is also known as Carnera dedicated to one of Falkirk's well known celebrities. Carnera was the largest known Clydesdale horse to have existed anywhere and he died after slipping on ice in the 'Cow Wynd' road in Falkirk's town centre around the early 1900's. It' is a tragic story of the death of a local hero and it is the popularity for Carnera by the people of Falkirk which, in one way, defines them as a community. Calum Marshall is a keyboard player and enthusiastic synthesist who has worked with the likes of The Bill Wells Quintet & The George Birt Band amongst many others. Cal formed the Jazz Prophets (formally known as the Jazz Bastards) with percussionist, George Falconer in 1990. They were a favourite of The BBC Jazz radio show Be-Bop to Hip Hop and the then compère David Sillars. Cal's session work with other bands and his own composition's can be heard here.
