Originally from Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Below Me was started in 2006, by singer, guitarist, and songwriter Jeyk Janish. After a bunch of songwriting and shows, Thom Knauff was added to the band as a second guitarist. By 2007, some of the recorded tracks were released on a pair of EPs, the "Awake For Days EP", and the "It's Not You, It's Me. EP". With influences stemming from post-hardcore, punk, folk, and even techno, Below Me has taken steps to appeal to a variety of people, not a certain genre.
