Avoidance Theory was initially formed in 2001 as a bedroom band project with no plans to release any songs publicly. Along the way, the Alhambra-based duo comprised of Bryan and Linda started recording their songs through a four-track into a low-budget PC multi-track program. A noticeable style began to form which combines a "Twin Peaks"-esque approach to quirky folk songwriting along with vocal harmonies reminiscient of Low and Ida.
