The Norwegian (ESC) winner 2009 with his own song 'Fairytale' – Alexander Igoryevich Rybak – was born 13 May 1986 in Byelorussian SSR, Soviet Union. He came to Norway with his musical parents only four years old. He is singer-composer, violinist, pianist, and writer. His song 'Typisk Norsk' (released Nov 2015) was a hit on Spotify and the e-music market. After winning the 54th ESC 2009 in Moscow, Russia, with the highest score of all times, he is also actor and presenter/host. He has made four full-length albums in the genres , . At the age of five, Rybak began to play the piano and the violin, and soon also the guitar and began singing and writing his own songs. In 2006 he won a Norwegian talent show with his own composition 'Foolin''. In 2007, he starred as fiddler in the Jerry Bock/Sheldon Harnick musical Fiddler on the roof in Oslo.

Alexander Rybak was born in Minsk, Belarus, but he grew up in Norway. He started playing the violin and the guitar at the age of five and he also began singing and writing his own songs. He hit the stage soon and performed with famous artists like Morten Harket of a-ha (Eurovision Song Contest 1996 host), Hanne Krogh (Norway 1971, 1985, 1991) and Arve Tellefsen.

Having already taken part in Norwegian Pop Idol in 2005, Alexander took part in the second edition of the talent search Kjempesjansen, a Norwegian TV show that is looking for young talents in music and dance, in 2006. He could win this show with his own composition Foolin'. He later won the Anders Jahres award and became a conductor for Norway's most famous orchestra of young musicians. In 2007, he starred as fiddler in the Jerry Bock/Sheldon Harnick musical Fiddler on the roof in Oslo.

In 2009, Alexander took part in MGP 2009, the Norwegian national final for the Eurovision Song Contest. He qualified from the semi final and could win the national final by a landslide. At that time, Fairytale was already the number one in the Norwegian charts and it was therefore the first MGP entry ever to top the charts before the final was held. To date, the single has sold to multiple platinum and after its victory in Moscow, it became a hit all over Europe. He gained the top score of all 9 voting districts, ending with a combined televote and jury score of 747888. The runner up received a combined score of 121856.
He ended up winning the Eurovision Song Contest with a record points tally of 387.

With Funny little world, he scored another number one hit in his home country.

Alexander Rybak won " Årets Spellemann" Norway`s biggest music award 06.03.2010.

May 18th 2010 Alexander Rybak got his picture on the new series of Norwegian stamps.

Alexander was one of the dancers in TV4 (Swedish TV) "Let`s dance" (Stricktly come dancing) in 2011.

In 2015, Alexander released his musical "Trolle un den magiske fela" which is based on his children's book of the same name. Its about a young outcast troll who has a magic instrument. Its a magical tale all about accepting others and being yourself. Alexander released the soundtrack in two versions, one with vocals and one without.
