Alex Welsh, cornet player. Born Edinburgh 9 July 1929. After playing with various bands in Scotland moved to London May 1954 and formed his own band. In following years his band became what were, arguably, the finest exponents of the Chicage style in the UK.Appeared at Newport Jazz Festival USA 1968.
