A Viberatto is minimalistic, ambient influenced, acoustic based post rock chamber music. In other words, totally original in sound. This group features Vibraphone, Cello, Glockenspiel, Synthesizer, Organ, Accordion, Melodica and Guitar. The music is described as cinematic.

Players involved with this project are: Jimmy Goodman, Ross Rice, Tony Levin, Garth Hudson, Jane Scarpantoni, Chris Macchia, Nat Russell and Maja Bewald.

Reviews of A Viberatto by David Malachowski (Kingston Daily Freeman) have called the music "Stunning" "Completely original" and stated that "Rooster and Now sound like out-takes from the Beach Boys "Pet Sounds". Peter Aaron stated the music was a "gorgeous whirlpool" in his review (Roll Magazine)

Recently the A Viberatto tune "East" was featured on the NPR Podcasts "All Songs Considered - Second Stage" on 7/26/10. NPR stated "Beautiful Instrumental music with a touch of whimsy and a lot of heart"

All tunes were written, arranged, recorded and mixed by bandleader Jimmy Goodman. Below is some information about him:

Jimmy Goodman has been performing on drums, percussion, keyboards and sampler since he was a young kid in NJ. Classically trained, he studied jazz improve with many, including the great Charlie Banacas. Performing freelance, he has toured US and some in Europe. Genres he has performed include classical, jazz, punk, trip-hop, country, reggae, r and b, and other more obscure styles. In 1999 he started a recording studio called Transporterraum NYC with a partner named Gordon Raphael. The studio's big hit was the debut album by The Strokes "Is This It?", which Gordon Raphael produced. This album was considered the best CD of the decade ending 2010 by NME magazine (UK) and #2 of the decade by Rolling Stone. In 2001 Jimmy relocated to Stone Ridge NY and started his own studio called Leopard Studio. He has recorded over 100 bands there from all over the world, including several with Garth Hudson, former keyboardist with the group The Band.
