The group was originally founded in 2002 by Aleksandr Sitnikov and Anton Klevtsov, being later joined by Nikolay Babak. In interviews, two seperate origin stories of the group's name have been given. According to one, "4 Positions of Bruno" is the name of a Romanian polka, a dance invented in Bucharest by choreographer Bruno Radulesco in the thirties of the twentieth century.
