*0 is the ultra-minimalist project of Tokyo musician Nosei Sakata. *0, or "asterisk-zero," can be mathematically translated as 'f(x) = x * 0' or "multiply any calculation by zero," which is of course equivalent to zero in all cases. Appropriately, the tracks made under the *0 pseudonym are barely audible frequencies. In addition to being a musician, Nosei Sakata runs mu-label records. Based on the name of his record label, the meaning and sound of *0, and other statements made by Sakata, one may interpret *0 as an artistic exploration of the concept of nothingness.
