Masamichi Sugi (杉真理) (born March 14, 1954, Fukuoka, Japan) is a Japanese singer-songwriter, composer, and music producer. From an early age, Masamichi was a dedicated fan of The Beatles, who inspired his early sound of 'POP'N ROLL' (ポップンロール), described by Sugi as a perfect blend of pop and rock. After forming and performing with several amateur bands during his high school years (1969-1972), Masamichi entered the Yamaha Popular Song Contest, where he met fellow musician Motoharu Sano (佐野元春).
