KOKONTEI Shinchou the 3rd (三代目 古今亭志ん朝) is one of the the best rakugoka(the lone storyteller, 落語家) in Shōwa and Heisei periods. The name “KOKONTEI Shinchou” usually represents the 3rd. He was born in Hon-komagome, Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo, Japan on March 10, 1938. The real name is Minobe Kyouji. His father is the 5th KOKONTEI Shinsyo(五代目 古今亭志ん生), and the elder brother is the 10th KINGENTEI Basyo(十代目 金原亭馬生).
