Shang Shang Typhoon (上々颱風) is a 6-piece Japanese band with shamisen as a prominent instrument and features other traditional Japanese and regional folk instruments. It began as Kôryû and the Himawari Sisters in 1980, but the band changed its name to Shang Shang Typhoon in 1986. The band has been on hiatus since February 2013 but have stated they have no plans to permanently disband.
