Tiger Okoshi has never been one to shy away from the untried. Born in Ashiya (outside of Osaka) in 1950, he began playing the trumpet when he was barely in his teens. He studied in Japan with the legendary Sadao Watanabe, who told him about Boston's Berklee College of music, which led Tiger to America to pursue his dream. He quickly became a part of the American music scene, sitting in with such renowned jazz players as Freddie Hubbard and Sonny Rollins, and playing in a rock band.
