Description
Olympia, Washington. April 1st, 2002. In Thekla Hall, Unwound play their last concert, ending a decade in which they had crossed the tempestuous waters of hardcore sailing aboard the "post-" prefix. They were not alone in their journey, but no one sounded like them. Their compositions could salute Fugazi, Sonic Youth and Slint, but in their hands all that energy was unusually vulnerable, like a fire that could go out at any moment. Perhaps that's why the band split less than a year after releasing their most anthemic work, Leaves Turn You Inside Out. But it is because they separated just then that their aura became even more mythical, adding to the cult and rediscovery that accompanied the reissue of their back catalogue. And now, finally, they are back. With all their rage, with all their sorrow, like a ghost that materialises before our eyes and invites us to touch that what lies on the other side.
