Description
Patsy Reid is one of the most admired musicians in the UK. In the last couple of years the former Breabach fiddle player has performed extensively with Kathryn Tickell, The Cecil Sharp Project and Zakir Hussain’s Pulse of the World. She also contributed violin, viola and cello to albums by Donald Shaw, Duncan Chisholm, Bella Hardy, Treacherous Orchestra and Tim Edey to name just a few. More recently, Patsy was delighted to perform alongside Dougie Maclean and Kylie Minogue in the finale of the 2014 Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony - definitely her biggest audience to date!
Now Patsy Reid takes centre stage - accompanied by an equally accomplished band - to bring us songs and tunes from her new album The Brightest Path. This, her first solo recording since 2008’s rapturously received Bridging The Gap, features newly recovered traditional Scottish melodies along with self-penned and contemporary material that thrillingly demonstrates Patsy’s ability to virtually sing through her instrument. Combining skills and techniques from both folk and classical disciplines, Lau’s Aidan O’Rourke describes her as having “an accuracy and tone that many fiddlers only dream of. She has truly mastered her instrument.”
