LIVE ACTS:

CUT HANDS (Susan Lawly/Very Friendly) -

‘The Stunning new project from William Bennett of Whitehouse: Cut Hands represents the apex of Bennett’s investigations into the ritual/trance aspect of afro-noise with a series of instrumentals that combine African instrumentation - head-hunter horns, hand-percussion, djembes, doundouns, ksings – with threatening minimal electronics in a way that further exaggerates the psychological firewalk aspect of the last few Whitehouse albums.

The opening “Welcome To The Feast Of Trumpets” is a masterclass in eviscerating minimalism with nothing but whipcrack beats and air raid horns generating an air of extreme malevolence. Whitehouse were always at their most effective when they were at their most reductive and Cut Hands feels like the full exposure of that group’s exo-skeleton, stripping back the attack to its most primal basics while upping the level of implied threat. It sounds approximately like nothing else: “A bludgeoning mix of machine and vaudou/Central African percussion plus other acoustic instruments combine to create one of the most physically intense musical experiences ever.

Since 2007's Whitehouse album Racket, and after his original 'Afro Noise' mix became one of the most downloaded experimental mixes ever made, William Bennett's remarkable Cut Hands album has seen 4 long years of meticulously obsessive studio work in the making, notably deploying his special collection of Congolese and Ghanaian percussion instruments’ – Volcanic Tongue

Endtyme is proud to present CUT HANDS (William Bennett/Whitehouse) for his first live action under this new guise in Manchester!

After we played host to Whitehouse’s ‘final’ UK performance back in 2007, William Bennett has spent the last four years, since that legendary show, meticulously crafting the debut album from CUT HANDS. The debut was finally released back in May 2011 and consequently sold out of the initial pressings within a few short months!

Miss this and miss out!

GUM TAKES TOOTH (Endtyme/Tigerblast) –

GUM TAKES TOOTH are currently in the process of gathering material together for their first ENDTYME release together with BLUE SABBATH BLACK FIJI which is set for release Autumn/Winter 2011. Here’s the low down:

‘Gum Takes Tooth, a thunderous rampage of noise tempered with an aptitude for precise rhythms and splintered melody, is a single-headed beast with two bodies: a duo of Thomas Fuglesang on live acoustic drums, physically wired into home grown electronic instruments and bare circuit boards, tweaked, molded and mangled in real-time by Jussi Brightmore.
The group formed in 2009, decisively bringing together their wildly varied influences of out-there noise, metal, primeval rhythms, spacious psyche, pan-ethnic oddities, primal punk, acid house and vintage electronics on their debut album, 'Silent Cenotaph'. Their incredible live set has found them in high demand, with storming festival sets including Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Supersonic and British Wildlife Festival in 2010-11, plus supports with luminaries such as Napalm Death, Melt-Banana, Acid Mothers Temple and Otto Von Schirach.

Both musicians have enjoyed disparate and involved travails through the musical underground, first playing together in the white noise pop outfit Infants. Brightmore featured in the pioneering I'm Being Good, the improvisational Milche Grand and Blood Stereo with releases on John Olson of Wolf Eyes' American Tapes, Mike Connelly of Wolf Eyes' Gods of Tundra and alongside releases by Thurston Moore on Dylan Nyoukis' Chocolate Monk. Brightmore also co-germinated Chrome Hoof from its conception as a trio to multi-limbed prog juggernaut. Meanwhile Fuglesang, previously of Agoskodo Teliverek, now moonlights with Wart Biter and amongst numerous other projects.’ - Tigertrap 2011

BLUE SABBATH BLACK FIJI (Endtyme/At War With False Noise) –

French born, improvised noise guitar and broken electronic duo (and partners) now residing in Glasgow, UK. BSBF have clocked up 15 'official' releases; have had countless appearances on compilations and as remixers. They mix and manipulate a multitude of genres into one unholy, riotous noisefest. Massively intense live performances, BSBF were handpicked last year for Supersonic Festival in Birmingham as well as the highly regarded 1,2,3,4 Festival in Shoreditch, London, just this August. The pair are currently recording material with Gum Takes Tooth for Endtyme Records.

FROM THE BOGS OF AUGHISKA (Human Jigsaw/Lone Vigil) –

‘Dark / Black Ambient noisescapes inspired by Celtic history, the harsh, rugged west coast of Ireland, misty boglands, dark nights, rural isolation, forests, The Burrens flora and fauna. Cavernous soundscapes (similar to Inade, Satori and Lustmord), moving into Vinterriket territory, with interesting tales of banshees and the pagan mythology of Ireland. The musical equivalent of standing atop the majestic Cliffs Of Moher with a gale force wind in your face.’

Side project from the man behind the extreme electronic act Drugzilla and the Human Jigsaw record label, FROM THE BOGS OF AUGHISKA is a mixture of drone and dark ambience, which plays heavily on Celtic history. FRROM THE BOGS OF AUGHISKA gained a huge amount of attention and rave reviews following on from his first full length release on the UK based LONE VIGIL record label. He has just been on tour as main support for extreme metal legends ANAAL NATHRAKH under his DRUGZILLA moniker and scored a support slot with avant-garde behemoths ULVER, for a rare appearence in Holland under the FROM THE BOGS OF AUGHISKA guise. We are looking forward to his first ever FROM THE BOGS OF AUGHISKA UK live show!!
