Do I know you? You seem extremely familiar, I'm sure I've seen your picture. How very odd... Any way, thank you for the friend request. Wonderful charts you have. Your love of Bill Callahan is extraordinary. He is probably my top favorite artist in the world. Hope to talk some day..

Hey, you asked for GBV recommendations on their page. The classic trilogy is considered, pretty rightly, Bee Thousand, Alien Lanes, and Under the Bushes Under the Stars. You should get the compilation Human Amusements at Hourly Rates. They have a lot of albums and songs, obviously, and it's a great intro of primo stuff. You can get a taste for a number of their albums on that one, and it's just very solid and worthwhile by itself. Really, anything they did from Propeller to their last pre-reunion album has some good stuff on it. IMO the reunion albums are more for hardcore fans, but aren't bad either. Robert Pollard also has some good solo stuff if you ever dredg through it (Speak Kindly of Your Volunteer Fire Department is a good one), plus some other projects he did (Boston Spaceships for example). As you may have guessed, the guy writes a lot of songs. Good live band, too, still.

For Zappa, it's kind of hard to get introduced to his work because he's got so much stuff (more than 70 studio albums) so all I can say is, the one that worked for me was "Strictly Commercial", if you can find that I'd highly recommend it! As for hip hop, that's for another day, it's a whole other kettle of fish! If you think I need to hear something though, be sure to sling it on my shoutbox!

The new one's great! Anything post 2000's is pretty good. Send is the best place to go, especially if you're into Pink Flag. The 80's and 90's stuff is very hit or miss, but there's a decent compilation of the better songs called The A List. Its a good idea to lower your expectations before listening to them though. Nothing quite compares to those first 3!

London is a great city, but like all large cities, it has its problems. I have an undergraduate degree in contemporary art and film theory from Stanford and a masters degree in film writing and directing from the USC Graduate School of Cinema Arts.
