Wellllll. Let me think. Mates of State and New Pornographers are pretty awesome, if quite poppy. If you want some darker 'punk cabaret', the Dresden Dolls are rad. Even if you don't like the sound of that, they're still awesome. I rather like Hot Hot Heat, I gather they annoy some people, but oh well. Róisín Murphy, ex-singer from Moloko is pretty good, especially her first album (the second is mostly dance stuff). Fiery Furnaces: experimental pop. Oh, and Garbage and Magic Dirt, for some older awesomeness. Hmm, this list is rather girl-dominated. Oh well, it's like affirmative action.

The Wonder Years soundtrack is purdy. It has a few cheezy cloudy oldies but most are quite good, annnd the music made for the actual show is really nice, too. All acoustic guitar-ish and Kevin and Winnie's sad love story!
