Belgium was much better, but we could've done a bit better... Still, nothing to complain about, it was a nice tournament.

Actually, since we're both in Pot 3, we both need to proceed from the group stage to the knockout stage to play against each other. I think that would be nice for the both of us. :)

Thanks! That was something we were really happy about! :) I hadn't believed it would happen, especially since Norway had always beaten us since the early 80s...

Congrats for the play against Germany! I guess this must be a happy year for you (except for the Bayern München flop in the CL): first Germany wins the world cup, then Poland beats Germany. :) We are also happy, because Hungary played a 1-1 draw against Romania in Bucharest, first, Romania is the arch enemy for Hungarians (not so much in football as in everything else), second, we haven't been able to score a goal in Bucharest since 1972, third, we haven't been able to achieve a draw (much less a victory) since 1981, fourth, a Hungarian team playing down with a goal for a full half time and *then* equalizing (and almost scoring a winning goal - a question of a few centimeters) is something unheard of. Either we score the first goal, we equalize within a few minutes, or we're doomed. And now our team showing something of a backbone, fighting even at a disadvantage, and that against the Romanians with their intimidating 70 thousand fans throwing crackers into the field...

Yes, the summer hot days usually do, but it depends on the region, but here in São Paulo and some southern states are not used to such heat. Here in Brazil there places that never gets cold, the Brazilian Northeast is always sunny. The Rio de Janeiro is also very warm, but in my opinion the worst place is the Amazon region, it is hot and humid, is a "green hell" =)

Thank you, dear! But I think the World Cup will be a "disaster"! Most Brazilians are against holding the Cup due to high costs, that is the truth! I think there will be many protests and I think the Brazilian team will not win this Cup! Do not believe everything is fine here, there are many lies behind this event.

At least you have a few good players (in places like Dortmund), and at least you somehow qualified in 2004, 2006, 2008, and even in the 1980s were better than us. Our glorious era is so far back that virtually nobody is still alive who has seen anything of it. The quality of the coaches/managers is the worst thing we have, unfortunately there is a racket of them preventing anybody else from breaking up their grip on Hungarian football, and whenever a foreign manager comes they quickly make life difficult for him. Also, the poor quality coaches are then creating the next generation of clueless Hungarian football players unable to play modern football, still stuck in the 1970s or 80s.

After Friday's catastrophe in Amsterdam, we almost lost against Andorra today. I haven't seen the match, only heard from others and read the reports, in the first half we didn't have any good opportunities, as opposed to the Andorrans... Fortunately the goalkeeper was good, and then in the second half we managed to score once, and the Andorrans gave us an own goal as well. So 2:0, we secured a third place in the group, no more dreams of Brazil.

At least Poland has had several players who are great at the Champions League level. Hungary since 1986: 1) has not participated in any tournament (neither WC nor EC, Poland at least qualified for the 2008 EC) 2) has only had two teams in the Champions League group phase (I don't know anything about Polish statistics) 3) has not had any players playing for any time in any top team (by "top team" I mean a team which is a regular CL participant in the spring). Currently Szalai Ádám is the closest to this with Schalke 04. However, I agree that Poland underperforms compared to her size: Poland is a country of 38 million, and any other country in Europe with at least 38 million inhabitants performs better (often even smaller countries perform better). Same thing for Hungary: any country with at least 10 million inhabitants perform better, often even smaller countries...

Netherlands-Hungary... have you heard? This is not the best year for Hungarian football, NONE of the Hungarian teams survived July in the CL/EL qualifiers, and then we lost against Romania (3-0) in Bucharest, and 8-1 against the Netherlands in Amsterdam... This was actually the worst defeat in the history of the Hungarian national football team.

Thanks, actually selecting played well against Spain! Not even we believed that selação, I hope they keep so! Marika, his feeling about the problems of my country's right, you're absolutely right! The Brazilian people are somewhat acculturated, ignorant and hypocritical too, I will not generalize, but many ordinary Brazilians are permissive and corrupt too! They say now is a natural thing, coming of settlers, anyway, I hope this problem is changing, after the demonstrations the people seem to have "agreed" and demanding more dignity but "we" also have to do our part. I'm happy for you to be informed about what happens in my country, thank you for your words, dear Marika!

I wish good luck in completing your course, everything goes successfully, dear Marika! Yes, things in politics here in Brazil go "boiling". Always told you that here there is a lot of lies, the world needs to know what actually happens here in Brazil. The people just got tired of so much corruption and neglect, with every lie round the completion of the World Cup, with huge expenses. These expenditures that could be better spent on education, transportation, health ... we are taking advantage of the international events to show the world the "real story", here are the rich richer and the poor poorer, that's the reality, only politicians to govern themselves ... the people tired! I even participated in some demonstrations and gradually we are getting answers, politicians are stirring more ass =) I hope that after that, things start to improve.

However, your short story could have happened in Hungary either. We have plenty of absurd. :)

I think it was totally unnecessary. :) Nobody would have noticed it, especially since in Hungarian Szeged is a city, segged is your ass, segéd is apprentice, segít is helps, etc., probably you pronounced it in a way no Hungarian would have recognized is 'segged'. And even if some people would, what does it matter? It's not that too many Hungarians would be listening in to Polish conversations...

'Your ass' is 'segged', with double 'gg'. (It's pronounced long.) 'Ass' is 'segg'.

I'm not so sure about Ukraine, but Sweden has relatively reliable players, especially in the defence. Add some organisation to their height and physical prowess and somewhat limited skills, and they will provide a good springboard for Ibra's attacks. They also have a high chance of scoring from headers after free kicks or corners, so often other players score as well. I don't know about Hungary, but I think we have the same problem as Poland: we have no good defenders. None at all. The only centre back to play in a European first league recently returned home, and even he only played in Belgium. We have a few good strikers and attacking midfielders/wingers, even some good other midfielders, but the defence is empty. Players from Hungarian clubs are regularly called in to fill the void... A weaker team of course needs defence more badly than attack, so we're usually doomed. (Although maybe this time...)

Well, in a national team it's more difficult to play well. Most outstanding players are much worse at the international level, because the team behind them is simply not so good. In Hungary we have a few players who play for second- or third-rate clubs (Dzsudzsák in Dynamo Moscow, Szalai in Mainz 05, Huszti in Hannover 96, Bogdán in Bolton, as well as some others), and with the exception of Huszti (who is out of the national team since 2010 because he fell out with the manager) and Bogdán (who is a goalkeeper) they are worse in the national team than in their clubs. The hype is familiar (many Hungarians are now cheering for Mainz or Hannover), but I think it's normal. In any event, I would be happy if Szalai reached that level, even if in the Hungarian team he is usually worse. (He is still better than most of the others, but that's rather a critique of the others.)

I'm not sure, how much you like Dortmund (I guess not much), but in any event as a Pole you must be proud. :)
