With such a realistic timeline, the good news is you only have to lose a little cool per day to hit your goal!

Two of the greats, for sure! Hum, though... I don't think they've quite clicked for me. Is there an album you'd recommend aside from Downward is Heavenward?

Sounds like you're in for some real treats! Also eventually check out the album they recorded as "Mother" (https://www.last.fm/music/Mother/Gold+Record+LP)! And while you're at it, you should meet Last.fm user Autolite; they know Menthol in a way I never will. Scroll down my shoutbox a bit to find them.

Hang on, I'm still counting.

Thanks, and happy new(ish) year to you!

I didn't realize it, probably became I'm not the biggest Orbit fan! Which is going to make the next thing I say sound a little weird: did you know that the original lineup is back together, working on a new album, and has a single out now? https://orbit1.bandcamp.com/track/daylight Anyway, I've only ever had a couple of their songs really click with me, but I've always dug the overall vibe. What did you think of lost album? Think it's worth checking out?

You know, I hope not because there's no reason for me to be! I just kinda stumbled into their stuff sideways a few years after hearing Neon Nation, which had me like "Wait, music can be like this too? Who is this guy and why can't I find anything else he's done? Menthol and Mother, wow, I like this too..."

By the way, state your Menthol credentials! I see you've scrobbled some demos. Maybe you get the crown...

Now it's Sparks, Jellyfish and Björk. Tasty taste we've got!

Hey, thank you for this. The Mountain Goats is a band I'm sure I should love but only a couple of tracks have really caught my attention... and I've been through a few full albums (just not Tallahassee yet). I like what little LCD Soundsystem I've heard, but never really thought to seek out more. I'll correct both of the above and report back!

Even though I don't miss (or have probably forgotten) a lot of the features that are gone now, it doesn't seem like a good sign of health. What I miss is being optimistic about the future of this place... or I guess you might say: I miss never thinking about any of that stuff.

Now it's saying The Apples in Stereo, The Beatles and Beulah. Quality taste!

Then, after a short break for wifi setup, we scrobble again!

So there is a kind way to say "damn dude, you're old!" :D But honestly, thank you. Very cool of you to notice!

Great news: you can be old too! Here's some aging advice: "stay loose."

So was I.

Have a seat by my rocking chair and I'll tell you a tale of Last.fm past. Did you know it used to have its own music streaming service? Many of the ancient texts, still readable in shoutboxes today, complain about Last.fm streaming live or inferior versions of songs, the users' anguish preserved through the ages as if in amber.

Whippersnapper, back in my day if I sent someone an AOL instant message saying "check out my profile at last.fm/user/everdred" it wouldn't even work because it was still audioscrobbler.com.

Wow, somebody noticed! Ok, so when looking at artists you have in common with neighbors, the artist list is always cut off in the middle *unless* you're looking at a neighbor who has a bio, in which case the list wraps to a second line to show all the artists. (Seems like this should be the behavior, bio or not.) So basically, if you've set a bio your neighbors can see all three of your most common artists, otherwise nope. Seemed like a good reason to set a bio!

Agreed! One of those 90s bands where I finally decided to go beyond the single and ended up really liking the album.

You're not wrong, I assume.

Your shout sent me into a brief period of intense self-reflection as I tried to figure out which song from my recent plays, or our shared artists, your comment was a reference to. Took my brain a bit to figure out you were talking compatibility (I think, pretty sure, lol).

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you: no one can save you now.

I can see how that happened from your top artists list! I see a few I should dig more into, though… (Hah, 15 years here and I just learned you can see the percentage!)
