Oh, just a wee pinch of negativity. :p I totally feel you though. Pop music, if not most music in the mainstream is vile brain pollution. Just gotta ignore it and dig for the good stuff. I was looking for more chillout-y/trip-hoppy things to discover, thus the reading of the blog....and the eventual rude adding on here.

a toast! was featured on their self titled album from 2010. heads or tails? was featured on their first full length called relativity (2007). jonny is out of the band now and they have a new singer. his name is bradley walden and he was the ex frontman of squid the whale.

emarosa is one of my all time favorite bands! which of the songs i sent you did you like the most? did y ou like the acoustic one too? also, you should give downtown battle mountain and downtown battle mountain 2 a spin first. both are with jonny and they're my most favorite. then listen to self-titled and happiness (i like both of these albums but the tunes in happiness are catchier)

i'm not much of a screamo fan as i used to be. i'll check apart out though. also, yes. jonny's side projects are really good. i'm sure you will definitely NOT enjoy his new ep (it's more like electro-pop or whatever.. just him singing over beats produced by some guy. the lyrics aren't really good except for 'diamond' and 'jesus died for you, not me..' emarosa is one of jonny's older band. their song 'heads or tails, real or not' is my all time favorite song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLLgSjrvx24 (a toast to the future kids!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0fCXsles90 (the past is not dead) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zp2H_HshXMw (heads or tails? real or not) and an acoustic non-studio version of the last song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eG67BL6eMAg his voice is perfect, man. i'd do anything to have his voice. imagine feeling down over something and you just sing your disappointments away. woah.

i went through a post-hardcore phase too, but a modern post-hardcore phase.. not classic post-hardcore such as glassjaw, etc.. the reason i don't really like post-hardcore anymore is because of all these scene kids. even dgd didn't like having scenes in their fanbase, hahaha. anyway, i forgot to mention that dgd has had 3 clean vocalists in total. the first one being jonny (features on their very first album [[mistakenly labelled as 'EP']] (2006), their debut album, downtown battle mountain (2007) and downtown battle mountain (2011).. the second one being kurt, he sings on their self titled album (2008) and happiness (2009).. and their current third one, tilian pearson. they released their 6th album not too long ago, in 2013. i think you watched live videos featuring tilian, since i quickly listened to coheed & cambria and he definitely reminds me of tilian. here's a live video with jonny (my fav. of the 3) instead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwKCL1Nr9Qc i'm totally a jonny fanboy.

i'll give twiabp a re-spin then! and i'll check the other band out as well. thanks dude! do you like dance gavin dance? i know you can stand screaming (i see deafheaven on your charts) but i don't know if you're into angelic voices (lol).. anyway check it out. i love it. one of my all time fav. bands. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOzAK6_1pu4 best thing is that the clean vocalist sounds like that live too. he's the ultimate live performer. not even kidding.

A good suggestion, but it seems like you weren't really into it? Guess you've won this round cuz I just listened to Pulkovo Heights and it was *very* enjoyable. Look No Hands might be my favorite song if I had to choose one, but there were so many solid tracks I'm really looking forward to hearing more. Thanks for the recommendation!

You've got your privacy settings too high, VernianProcess. I can't reply to your or send you a message. If you know any good instrumental bands with the steampunk aesthetic, I'll check them out.

Hello, I saw your write up on Steampunk music, and wanted to touch base with you. If you are interested in hearing some more variety in modern Steampunk influenced musicians, hit me up. There's at least a hundred artists working right now I think you might like to check out, and they come from all walks of life, and all kinds of different genre backgrounds. The thing to keep in mind about "Steampunk Music" is that it isn't a genre all it's own, but rather an aesthetic that many, many different acts apply to their work.

That makes the opposite of what is sense. There are a lot worse authors out there than R.A. Salvatore, but that doesn't mean Drizzt is a well-developed character.
