How did you like Psych Fest? One of my friends did it this year and seemed to really enjoy it. Also, nice Kadavar plays. The same friend and I just saw them here a couple weeks ago. :)

YESSSSSS, expect the best thing ever! If your set is anything like mine, it will be (was) mostly new stuff, but I think it sounded good nonetheless. Also Portishead blew my head off; I could not have been happier with their performance, except maybe if they had played "Strangers". I took two videos ("Sour Times" and a really excellent, stripped-down version of "Wandering Star") that are surprisingly not that bad, if you'd like links?

It wasn't my favorite Mekons show ever, but it was a good one. I had trouble understanding some of the banter - not sure if it was the sound or me, as others didn't seem to have that problem. And the Sally/Jon banter is of course key to any Mekons show...

ATP ruled as usual. The new venue is good in some ways and bad in others.. Worst was the sound though, unfortunately. The main stage was fairly universally bad. But the second stage was really incredible(and seated! which fits a surprising number of ATP acts)

I'm so glad they delivered! My friend saw them in New York last week, and he said they were divine. I will definitely try to make ATP next year, but it's considerably more of a trip now that I live in Colorado. Definitely try to see Boris if you can!! This will be my third time seeing them, and I'm sure they're going to be just as excellent as always, even though I've been bad about keeping up with the THREE ALBUMS they released this year.

my creeping skillz are just so masterful you don't even know when i'm creeping anymore. also, i almost emailed you the jeff mangum playing nmh songs at the 'occupy wall street' video today b/c it reminded me of you, but then i forgot. you've probably seen it by now, but if you haven't get on it. it's glorious.

I'm actually scheduled to work the event, so I don't know how much hanging out and music watching I'll get to do. (It was the same deal with Bonnaroo, though I did see Primus and Buffalo Springfield there.) I'm still intensely envious that you're going to I'll Be Your Mirror as that will surely blow everyone in the crowd away.

I'm sorry I'm late getting back to you, but they were really great at the 9:30 club! I was really stunned that so many people were able to pull it together so eloquently at once, and the crowd was surprisingly not full of idiots. Or at least didn't seem to be-- I read a bunch of comments on some of the Chicago event pages about people shouting and being rude during parts of the performance that were clearly supposed to be silent, and there was none of that in DC that night. I had to leave a little early so I could make it home for work the next morning, but I don't think I missed much, which rules. If you are able to get a PJ ticket, let me know! I'll be in New York the 19th - 21st. So excited to see her! Finally!

Oh definitely. Gotta get my camera in order. I hope security is not a pain. Havent been to that venue in years. The show seems so out of the blue, I expect plenty of rarities. Hoping for some gold early songs.

I will almost certainly not be making the St. Patrick's Day show afterall. When I looked at how much it would cost me to get up + the time I'd have to take off for work + some kind of accomodation for both New York and the DC metro area (when I'd come back down for the DC show), it's just not worth it to me. If I still lived outside DC, it would be no big deal, but from here it's too much. Still considering the DC show, but I'd rather see PJ Harvey in NYC in April, so I might sell both my tickets to be able to make that trip.

I moved back in with my mom immediately college graduation, and I now inhabit an area that's kind of an armpit in many senses of the phrase. Shit yeah I am! I actually bought a ticket to the Thursday night show before I even realized they were playing DC at all, but I'm glad to be going to (at least) the one in NYC. Any excuse to be in that lovely metropolis is a good one, even if it will take me ~8 hours to get there. I will probably get a ticket to the DC show as well, despite the fact that I kind of hate the 9:30 Club, as I said about seeing Boris there. :p It's just too good an opportunity to pass up! Will you be attending the Brooklyn date too? Maybe we could have a drink beforehand or something?

Boris was really great, and you're right about the 9:30 Club being a good match for them. Even though I don't especially care for that place or the people who work there, one thing I love about it is that if the band is any good in the first place they'll sound amazing there. :D There's a kid on my friends list, CosmicFugue, who went to the NYC show and said they were fantastic there too. He said they're playing again in September with Sun O))), so you could potentially still catch them.
